Salute to Carpentry

The Salute to Carpentry program, a key initiative of The Inspired Lumber Project, empowers veterans by combining skill development with relationship building in a fully equipped wood shop. In this 6-week workshop, veterans of all skill levels receive expert guidance, building confidence and honing their woodworking abilities through hands-on projects.

Beyond technical training, the program offers a constructive outlet for managing stress and anxiety, fostering a renewed sense of purpose and community. Participants report improved mental well-being and a deeper connection with others.

Thanks to funding from the Lucas County Veterans Services Commission (LCVSC) and Christian’s Corner Foundation, we launched the Salute to Carpentry program in 2024 to great success. To date, 100% of the 47 veterans who started, also fully completed the program.

By overwhelming request by veteran graduates, we’re excited to introduce Salute to Carpentry 2.0, a next-level program for graduates who want to further develop their skills in a structured environment.
